A petition before the U.S. Supreme Court carries big implications for the First Amendment.   Thomas More Law Center is asking the court to prevent what it calls Maine’s persecution of a pro-life pastor who is also a pro-life activist.   “Pastor Andrew March preaches peacefully on the public sidewalk outside the Planned Parenthood in Portland, Maine, which is a very unfriendly place for pro-lifers,” says TMLC attorney Kate Oliveri.   The pastor “calmly” talks to women, without yelling or using a megaphone, the attorney insists, but Portland officials are prosecuting him and others under a noise provision in the [More]
Attorneys have requested a rehearing for a case involving a veterans memorial that atheists have claimed is unconstitutional because of its Christian imagery.   In a 2–1 ruling last month, a panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit declared that the World War I Veterans Memorial in Bladensburg, Virginia, unconstitutional.   The 90-year-old and 40-foot-tall memorial is in the shape of a cross – something the Circuit considers a government endorsement of religion. The memorial is maintained with public funds.   First Liberty Institute and the Jones Day law firm have filed a petition for [More]
A Christian organization is calling out both the United Nations and the United Kingdom for discriminating against persecuted Christians in their refugee programs. According to Barnabas Aid, the U.K. government has colluded with the U.N. to use an “overwhelming majority” of the refugee slots available from the Middle East for Sunni Muslims “who are the majority in Syria.”   “But Christians, and other minorities have been repeatedly targeted for attack” by Islamic jihadist groups such as ISIS, the new report said.   Further, the organization reported that the U.K. government tried to conceal what it was doing in partnership with the U.N. 09/26/17   A tide of anti-Christian bigotry is growing in the corridors of Congress.     Two remarkable things unfolded last week.   The Democrats openly embraced socialism in the form of single-payer health care. And they announced a secular, anti-Christian test for public office. The two go together like Abbott and Costello. Or better yet, since this is far from funny, Marx and Lenin.  “Democratic Socialist” Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ scheme for a single-payer, government-run health care system has already been endorsed by 16 Democratic senators. A similar bill introduced by Rep. John Conyers, Michigan Democrat, has 117 co-sponsors. [More]

Is the ground underneath the “gay” agenda in America beginning to crumble? Two preachers who had been found guilty earlier this year of “intentionally alarming” the public with their open-air preaching have now been acquitted in a UK appeals court.- “We hope and pray that today’s ruling will be an encouragement to Christians across the nation to continue preaching the good news,” defendant Michael Overd said in a statement on Thursday.
