In a study released this week, the Pew Research Center revealed that restrictions on religious belief and practice increased around the world for the second year in a row in 2016, the latest year for which comprehensive data were available.   As the United States gears up for an unprecedented global summit on religious liberty to be held in late July, Pew found that 28 percent of all countries have “high” or “very high” levels of government restrictions on religion, up from 25 percent the prior year and up from 20 percent in 2007, when the Washington-based think tank began [More]
06/08/18   Watchdog groups say the persecution of Christians and other religious minorities in China is at its most intense since the Cultural Revolution, as churches are shuttered, Bibles confiscated and believers arrested at rates not seen in decades.   Evidence of the crackdown was in plain view this week, when police raided Early Rain Covenant Church, an underground parish in the southwestern Sichuan province, to preempt a memorial service commemorating the 29th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre of anti-government protesters.   According to ChinaAid, an advocacy group that documents human rights abuses in the communist nation, 17 people [More]

06/07/18   The Southern Baptist Convention, America’s largest protestant denomination and a historically conservative wing of the Christian church in the United States, is on the verge of falling to organized “progressive” social-justice forces and anti-Trump activists, according to media reports and insiders involved in the battle. One leading opponent of the scheme has even blasted what he described as the “Evangelical Deep State” working to infect the church with unbiblical ideologies.   The goals of these forces, dubbed “neo-Marxist” by some critics, include softening and eventually quashing Christian opposition to homosexuality, normalizing gender confusion in the church, promoting left-wing [More]
In states across the country, schools have quietly implemented elementary and preschool programs designed to indoctrinate young children to homosexual and transgendered lifestyles. State education departments have implemented systematic LGBT acceptance curriculum programs at every level. These programs include books and activities, beginning with pre-school, meant to make switching genders or having same-sex parents seem both normal and commonplace. But unlike some other sex education programs that have required parents to opt-in to the instruction, these programs are increasingly becoming mandatory, with parents unable even to opt-out if they are opposed to such teaching.   Read More: More Parents Homeschooling [More]
Transgender people are being encouraged to join the clergy in new Church of England guidance on “honouring LGBT+ people”, aimed at fighting the church’s reputation as “homophobic”.   Claiming young people are put off by “the perception that the Church is homophobic and transphobic”, church leaders said it is vital to challenge this with celebration of the “great contribution” sexual minorities have made to church life, and for outreach “within the LGBT+ community more broadly”.   Guidance from bishops in Lichfield, a diocese covering almost 600 churches in an area populated by more than 2 million people, reminds parishioners and [More]
05/16/18   In an intensifying crackdown on Christianity and religious freedom, the Chinese regime is now banning sales of the Bible, leading online retailers across China to pull it and other Christian books from their stores.   It was reported on April 3 that Chinese Christians had noticed that all the online bookstores accessible from within mainland China had removed the Bible from sales. These include Chinese e-commerce sites like Alibaba’s Taobao, JD.com, and DangDang.com, along with Amazon’s local site in China.   A number of online sellers on these sites told the BBC that earlier in March they received “instruction” from the Cyberspace [More]

That is why people have a great feeling of hope when they hear about about www.USA.Life and www.1776Free.com,” he said.   Among [More]
The U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear a case in which a Michigan township changed its zoning laws to prevent a Christian school from entering the community   “This is a deeply disappointing decision, not only because of what it means for our clients, but because it will embolden other cities and towns across the country to keep religious organizations from contributing to their community,” said Hiram Sasser, general counsel to First Liberty, which represents Livingston Christian Schoolin the case against Genoa Charter Township.   Read More: Christian school banned by city and Supremes let it happen
“We can expect more of this going forward as the world keeps heading deeper into spiritual darkness.”  Admin   The social media tech giant terminated Trunews’ account. Youth in the United Kingdom are among the least religious in post-Christian Europe, with some 70 percent self-identifying as having “no religion,” according to a new report.   03/23/18   Religion in Europe is “moribund,” said Stephen Bullivant, the author of a report titled Europe’s Young Adults and Religion. “With some notable exceptions, young adults increasingly are not identifying with or practising religion,” said Bullivant, a professor of theology and the sociology of religion at St Mary’s University in London.   Read More: Seventy Percent of British Youth Profess ‘No Religion’
Usually, Africa only breaks through to the West when Western targets are attacked by terrorists. First, two US Black Hawk helicopters were shot down in Somalia in 1993. Then Al Qaeda attacked US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998. Then, only a few days ago, Islamic State published a video purporting to show an ambush in Niger in which four US soldiers were killed last October. The West was silent. The West does not seem to care about the ongoing Islamic terrorist genocide on Africa’s biggest Christian population in Nigeria.   A few days ago, the Coliseum in Rome [More]

“Hundreds” of crosses at war monuments and memorials across the nation now are at risk because a panel from the 4th U.S. Court of Appeals condemned the Bladensburg World War I Veterans Memorial to destruction, and the full court refused to reconsider, says one of the judges. The warning came from Circuit Judge Paul Niemeyer, a part of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.   The majority there refused to have the entire court weigh in on the Bladensburg case, and that would leave it condemned to destruction because of its presence on public property.   But the legal [More]
02/16/18 The California government is being accused of continuing to “persecute” a baker who refused to make a same-sex wedding cake, despite a recent court victory granting her the First Amendment right to do so.   As Faithwire previously reported, a California judge ruled last month in favor of Cathy Miller, owner of Tastries Bakery, finding that the state cannot force her to act against her sincerely held beliefs.   The Christian baker has been under fire over her refusal last August to make a gay wedding cake.   Read More: California Continues to Persecute Christian Baker Despite Big Win [More]

Thursday, January 25, 2018  | Charlie Butts (OneNewsNow.com) Canada’s prime minister is getting a tongue-lashing from an unexpected source over what has been described as a “dictatorial” policy.   The Canadian government has a summer jobs program it supports via grants to various businesses, organizations, and churches to give young people some practical training and experience in the job market. But Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently established a rule that those applying must agree to support his pro-abortion policies – or, as he put it, they must respect “reproductive rights,” including abortion on demand.   Mary Ellen Douglas of Campaign [More]

British Christian publications have been wondering if we are witnessing the “extinction of Christianity in Egypt“, where the Christian faithful have suffered persecution and terror attacks at the hands of Islamic fundamentalists. Christian leaders also seem to be wondering if Christianity will be “extinct within a generation” in the UK, where religious people enjoy total freedom of worship and faith.   Last year, the Church of England began to formulate a religious revolution. Its canonical laws require that British churches hold their functions every Sunday. The dramatic crisis of Christianity in the UK, however, is pushing the Anglican church to [More]
