2015 was the “worst year in modern history for Christian persecution,” according to Open Doors, a human rights organization that has been documenting the persecution of Christians since 1955. According to its latest data, more than 7,000 Christians were killed for their faith in 2015 — almost twice as many as in 2014. In addition, more than 2,400 churches were attacked, damaged or destroyed — again, more than double the number of the previous year. In the words of Open Doors’ CEO, David Curry: “The 2016 World Watch List [which ranks the 50 nations where Christians are most persecuted] documents

My sister, Martie, and her husband, Jan, (who are pastors of Stonegate Faith Center in Bedford, Indiana) just returned from ministry work in Ecuador, and I couldn’t wait to hear all that God had done during their two weeks abroad. As I listened to them share about their adventures over dinner the other night, I was amazed! So many changed lives! As dinner came to a close, I noticed that my sister had a new ring on her right hand, so I asked about it. Immediately, tears came to her eyes as she began telling me about her beautiful new

Trudy Harris, hospice nurse and best-selling author of Glimpses of Heaven and More Glimpses of Heaven, shares proof of life after death and near death experiences in these letters. Hi Trudy, I have spent 22 years as a nurse and I have seen some strange and miraculous things happen at the bedside of dying patients. Because of my experience, I have never questioned God’s authority over death. I have seen two personal instances of “glimpses of heaven.” My mother was very ill with pancreatitis and was placed in ICU, where we thought she would die. Read More: Proof of Life

The Muslim convert to Christianity who is emerging as one of the world’s leading experts on Islam has issued a chilling warning of the fundamental violence within the faith. Nabeel Qureshi, whose book Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus became a New York Times best seller, believes the world is in the midst of an Islamic reformation. This means a return to the religion’s fundamentals, he told Christian Today, and there is no doubt that these fundamentals are explicitly violent. Qureshi told Christian Today: “There is a basis to believe in Jesus. He rose from the dead. You can check that historically.

There are times when life gets hard, when something happens that is really tough, when we’re weathering a storm. There are also times when we don’t really feel God’s presence in our lives. We wonder what is going on. We wonder whether we’ve done something wrong. The Bible calls times like these trials, and it talks…
“In 1933 this is what William Branham saw in the 4th vision of the 7 visions God gave him about the future, driverless cars.” Admin After a century building what it calls the “ultimate driving machine”, BMW is preparing for a world in which its customers will be mere passengers, and the cars will do the driving themselves. Days before BMW’s 100th birthday, its board member for research and development described plans for a completely overhauled company, where half the R&D staff will be computer programmers, competing with the likes of Google parent Alphabet to build the brains for self-driving

Three years ago, the Health Ministry of Costa Rica and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) launched a campaign to curb teen pregnancy. At the time, the Costa Rican Health Ministry and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) were alarmed that teenage mothers represented 15%-20% of all childbirths in the country, with some 500 babies born to mothers under age 15. The issue, says Melissa Heiland with Beautiful Feet International, “They’ve been so sexualized from a very young age that they don’t know that God has a plan for sex within marriage and that it is His design to be

In Richard Wurmbrand’s book Tortured for Christ he shares the story of an old carpenter whose inner turmoil led him to ask God for a reward; the prize of bringing a Jew to Christ. This carpenter not only knew how to talk to God in prayer — he had the tenacity to ask for a reward. “My God, I have served you on earth and I wish to have my reward on earth as well as in heaven. And my reward should be that I should not die before I bring a Jew to Christ, because Jesus was from the

The report, ‘You’re not alone: a guide for the Christian family in education,’ observed that churches need to do far more in helping parents engage with their children’s education. “Parents are the primary socialisers and therefore hold primary responsibility for their child’s education,” Landrum

There are many good reasons to read the Bible–inspiration, comfort, instruction. But one of the best reasons is for instruction in how to pray. And one of many ways the Bible instructs us in praying is by showing us examples of how the people of God have prayed before us. One such lesson is to give God good reasons to answer your prayers. Most of us, knowing God knows everything and can see into our hearts, skip this technique. But the prayers of the Bible show us that building a case to God in prayer is definitely a

The world was a terrifying place for nine-year-old Beth Praed. She was afraid of everything. Worms, spiders, even little roly-poly bugs. Thunderstorms. A car driving slowly by her house in Indianapolis. You name it. The dark scared her the most. She wouldn’t go to bed unless her mother first checked the room, turning on the light in her closet and the one on her nightstand. Her mother would tuck her in and kiss her goodnight, then switch off the light by the bed. “Leave the closet light on,” Beth pleaded. “Yes, dear,” her mother said, and

When I was growing up back in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts, Mother prided herself on preparing us kids for anything life might send our way. Her own mother had suffered a massive stroke when she was only five years old. As the oldest of four children, my mother professed that it was hard work and a strong faith in God that got her through those rough years. She was a shining example of Yankee faith and fortitude, and she passed along those values to each of us. Still, nothing could have prepared me for the void that Mother’s

With the United Kingdom’s growing reputation as a post-Christian nation, a recent poll shows that its citizens’ beliefs about Christianity might not be exactly as many expected. To find out what Britons really think about Jesus, Christians and the Bible, the Evangelical Alliance, HOPE International and the Church of England commissioned the Barna Group to get a better feel for the island nation’s spiritual climate. More than 3,000 adults were surveyed, and the results were nationally representative of the U.K.’s 18-and-older population, with the younger generation tending to be more skeptical about the Bible and its teachings. “You don’t have
