Recently, I took a group of 6th Grade children and their teachers around the Hummocks’ Trail as part of their homeschool co-op’s fieldtrip to the area near the Mount St. Helen volcano. It was a hot sunny day. The slopes of many of the hummocks were covered in wild strawberries. The heady scent was strong and delicious in the air!
