Hell ants may have skewered prey with vampire-like scythes to drain their “bug blood.” Locked in amber around the world are countless tiny flowers and small animals ranging from insects to lizards. Among these are hell ants—extinct ants with scythe-like jaws that moved upward in a vertical plane rather than horizontally. However fearsome these sound, you might well wonder how such an ant could eat. Detailed images of a newly discovered species of hell ant in Burmese amber may hold the answer. All living ants—and lots of fossilized ones—have pincer-like mandibles that converge in front of the face. Their

Want a family vacation that combines hands-on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) activities, robotics, the Creation Museum, stargazing, and family fun together? Look no farther than Ci 5.0 Family STEM Camp with our friends at Camp Infinity. If you have a young person in your family who loves STEM, you’ll want to bring them to Ci’s Family STEM Camp. The camp director, Dan Wooster (who also serves on the Answers in Genesis board), has found that many parents don’t understand the world of STEM that has perhaps captured their young person. These parents want to better connect with

Editor’s Note: First published in St. Louis MetroVoice 5, no. 3 (March 1995). The evolutionist’s notion that man evolved by chance from ape-like creatures is largely based upon certain anatomical similarities between apes and men. Being convinced that such similarities “prove” an evolutionary relationship, paleoanthropologists have declared certain fossil apes to be particularly “manlike” and, thus, ancestral to man. Similarly, in an effort to fill the gap between apes and men, certain fossil men have been declared to be “apelike” and, thus, ancestral to at least “modern” man. You might say this latter effort seeks to make a “monkey”

Modern advances in computers have taken artificial intelligence to stunning new levels. If computers can learn and think better than we can, will that threaten our humanity? I still remember the day as a 10-year-old boy that I got my first calculator—with memory. I’ve loved computers ever since, creating things using logic. The very first program I created allowed me to play baseball against the computer. While the interface was pretty simple, it helped me understand how well machines follow exact instructions. How times have changed. Back then we were inspired watching Rosie the Robot on The Jetsons

Editor’s Note: First published in St. Louis MetroVoice 5, no. 5 (May 1995). Evolutionism is a belief system based upon the assumption that there is a purely materialistic explanation for the origin of virtually everything that ever has existed or ever will exist. The essential feature of this belief (often called materialism) is that everything in nature arose spontaneously by a process of self-transformation without the necessity of supernatural intervention. Julian Huxley once said, The whole of reality is evolution, a single process of self-transformation (Evolution and Genetics, Simon & Shuster, 1955, p. 278). In today’s public

The wild and woolly world of hybrids is setting evolutionary ideas back on their heels. Species simply don’t arise in the way the evolutionary tree proposes. What do you get . . . when you cross a zebra with a horse? Give up? Why, a zorse, of course! How about crossing a polar bear and a grizzly? If you said “pizzly,” you’re catching on! Do you think I’m joking about these names? Guess again. These are real examples of separate species that can breed and produce unique hybrid babies. Biologists have known about them for a long time,

A Christian geologist has asked that his lawsuit against the National Park Service be dismissed after he finally obtained a research permit that had been held up for years by red tape. Andrew Snelling filed suit when the Park Service denied him permission to do ordinary research in the Grand Canyon, charging the reason was his…
A creationist scholar recently received a six-figure settlement from California State University Northridge, a payout that resolved a 2-year-old lawsuit that alleged the scholar had been fired after discovering soft tissue on a triceratops horn and publishing his findings. The plaintiff, Mark Armitage, had alleged religious discrimination and a violation of the Fair Employment and Housing Act in his suit, claiming in court documents that after his discovery – which supports a young Earth theory – some professors went on a successful “witchhunt” against him. Armitage’s attorney, Alan Reinach, called the settlement “groundbreaking,” noting that in his decades

The first chapters of Genesis leave us in no doubt whatsoever about how God created the universe. On the six successive days of creation, God spoke and what He said happened. That is to say, the means that God used to create the universe and all things in it was His Word. The occasions of his speaking, from Genesis chapter 1:3–26 (NIV), are as follows: Read More: Creation-how did God do it – creation.com
Jesus’ promise to make His disciples ‘fishers of men’ is understood quite plainly. Christians are commanded to cast out the Gospel net and proclaim Jesus as the Saviour of the world so that God may draw people into His Kingdom. Sharing the Gospel/Casting the nets Ideally, sharing the Gospel of Jesus with someone involves communicating two primary components; sin and grace. You’ve likely heard the statistics that around 2/3 of children who grew up in Christian homes are leaving the church. And now there are ‘Christian’ organizations trying to ‘deconvert’ our children by causing them to stop trusting the Bible. “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:15–16). Read More: Convert children – creation.com
One of the constant themes of Scripture is that nature bears consistent witness to its Creator. That is still true today, despite the best attempts of evolutionary scientists to silence it. The intricacy of even something as humble as the skin of a gecko (p. 40) shows the ingenuity of its Creator. From the lowly pigeon (p. 16), to an octopus that mimics marine predators with astonishing accuracy (p. 12) to the sawfish with its comical rostrum (p. 34), animals have instincts and features that defy evolutionary explanation. Rather, they show they were created by an intelligent Designer who is

On a recent ministry visit to Singapore, I met a pastor who has been involved in church planting in China. He shared how people had been doing Bible studies for 18 months but there had been no conversions to Christ. He asked the non-Christians why they were not responding to the Bible studies and becoming followers of Jesus. They replied that they had learned during their education that the universe and everything in it came about by the natural process of evolution over billions of years and that the Bible just did not make any sense to them; it was

Carbon-14 is an unstable form of carbon that decays into nitrogen 14 at a measured rate—and this forms the basis of carbon-14 dating. In 2003 a group of researchers performed an unusual test on 10 coal samples obtained from Pennsylvania State University. The researchers wanted to see if carbon-14 could be detected in the coal samples. This test might be considered ‘unusual’ because carbon-14 decays relatively fast, and should not be detectable after a maximum of 90,000 years. Yet the coal samples tested came from strata allegedly ranging in age from 37 million to 318 million years. The laboratory results

How do fish survive in Antarctic waters without freezing? The answer is that their blood plasma has lots of ‘antifreeze’ protein that bind to ice and prevent the crystals from growing and thus causing damage. Some evolutionists claim that this is an example of ‘evolution in action’ because new DNA code has been created that codes for the antifreeze protein. But does this really support molecules-to-man evolution?
Stromatolites are regarded by many as the oldest fossils on earth. They are interpreted as the remains of colonies of blue-green algae, or more accurately, cyanobacteria. The oldest ones are claimed to be 3.5 billion years old. Within this evolutionary perspective, one would expect these colonies to have radically changed, but remarkably, they are essentially the same today. Stromatolites, therefore, are classic examples of living fossils.
Astronomers have discovered what appears to be the largest feature in the observable universe, and—according to the Big Bang model—it shouldn’t even exist. A team of Hungarian and U.S. astronomers say they have discovered a huge ring of nine gamma ray bursts (GRBs) that is five billion light years across. The scientists detailed their findings in “Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.” GRBs are thought to be the result of massive stars collapsing into black holes. Because black holes are typically found inside galaxies, astronomers say the ring of GRBs is evidence of a gigantic galaxy ring. All nine

A team of American and British scientists has published a new report detailing how natural selection, “the engine of evolution,” can actually prevent evolution from happening—a potentially devastating setback for evolutionists. Natural selection, a term first popularized by Charles Darwin, plays a fundamental role in the theory of evolution. In his infamous book “The Origin of Species,” Darwin proposed that natural selection “leads to divergence of character and to much extinction of the less improved and intermediate forms of life.” Read More Natural Selection, ‘Engine of Evolution,’ May Actually Inhibit Evolution, Scientists Find | Christian News Network.
