“She made a post on her Facebook page critiquing the gay agenda and the need for the traditional family then gets disciplined by the school. I had no idea the 1st amendment had been repealed but apparently when commenting on a certain privileged small minority it has.” Admin
After a Catholic high school teacher in New Jersey was suspended for defending natural marriage on her personal Facebook page, education experts are contending that such disciplinary measures preclude teachers from being the witnesses for Christ that they were called to be at school.
A Closer LookImmaculata High School of Somerville, New Jersey, announced last week that 30-year tenured teacher Patricia Jannuzzi was suspended for taking a biblical stance opposing same-sex “marriage,” but said that she could remain on the faculty if she softens her tone and word choice when publicly communicating her religious views, the Cardinal Newman Society (CNS) announced.
Two education experts are stepping out in defense of the Bible and Jannuzzi, saying that even though they recognize the difficult situations many schools and bishops are put in concerning LGBT issues, they denounce all attempts that have the effect of keeping teachers from meeting their call to be witnesses for Jesus Christ.
