The opioid epidemic has been making headlines in the U.S., but another public health crisis is also in the making, this time involving alcohol, according to a new study published in JAMA Psychiatry.¹ In the time period spanning 2001-2002 to 2012-2013, 30 percent more Americans engaged in high-risk drinking. The study included data from nearly 80,000 Americans and found statistically significant increases in alcohol use across all sociodemographic groups.
