Believe it or not, monarch butterflies are in serious danger of going extinct. So much so, that they are a candidate for becoming listed as an endangered species by the Endangered Species Act.
According to scientist the monarch population is only 10 percent of what it was 25 years ago. The number one culprit for the demise of monarchs? Genetically Modified Foods.
