The Rev. Billy Graham once said: “Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often stiffened.”

Now one county clerk’s courage is catching on around the country, and Michael Brown, a WND columnist and talk-radio host, says we should expect people to emulate her.

“This much is clear,” Brown told WND. “The more the government pushes an ungodly agenda, the more Christian, non-violent resistance there will be.”’Rowan County, Kentucky, Clerk Kim Davis was jailed on the order of Judge David Bunning Sept. 3 for refusing to issue marriage licenses. The refusal stemmed from her religious objection to same-sex marriages. She was released Sept. 8 and returned to work Monday. Her legal challenges are pending in the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals now.

And now a total of 32 magistrates in North Carolina have recused themselves from performing civil wedding ceremonies, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Among them are all four magistrates in McDowell County. The recusals are allowed under a state law that lets certain public officials avoid wedding duties if they have a religious objection.
