Parents and legislators are outraged by a University of Hawaii program that gives gift cards to middle school students for participating in a graphic sex-ed program. Caution: this story includes terms some may find offensive.

The program is called “Pono Choices.” “Pono” is the Hawaiian word for “right,” and the website states that it’s the first curriculum created for Hawaiian children ages 11 to 13.

The program supposedly teaches them about pregnancy and avoiding sexual disease prevention, but Linda Harvey of Mission America says “Pono Choices” also teaches them about homosexual sex.

The website acknowledges that claim, stating that its “inclusive curriculum” provides “both same sex and different sex examples.”
