By Dr. Mercola By Dr. Mercola In the U.S., many Americans use a sauna only occasionally, perhaps while at the gym or on vacation — if at all. In Finland, in contrast, 99 percent of Finns take at least one sauna a week,1 and some far more often than that. Known as a “poor man’s pharmacy,” Finns value saunas for stress relief, above all else, but the simple act of sitting quietly in a heated room, with or without steam (or as it’s known in Finland, löyly), offers proven health benefits that virtually everyone can enjoy, including a boost to

By Lori Alton, staff writer (NaturalHealth365) Candida albicans, a one-celled micro-organism that is both yeast and fungus, is normally present in the body in small colonies. However, when candida populations swell into an overgrowth, serious health problems can result. Classic signs of candida overgrowth – or candidiasis – can include diarrhea, bloating and flatulence, as well as stubborn weight gain, food cravings and intermittent painful mouth sores known as aphthous ulcers. Fatigue, joint pain, chronic sinusitis and allergies can also be tip-offs to a candida overgrowth. Finally, psychological and mental symptoms – such as mood swings, …read more Read more

By Dr. Mercola By Dr. Mercola In the past 30 days, nearly half of Americans have used at least one prescription drug. Nearly 22 percent used three or more during that timeframe and more than 10 percent used five or more.1 There are individual health repercussions of taking so many drugs, especially when unnecessary or inappropriately prescribed, but another often-overlooked consequence is turning up in the world’s waterways in the form of pharmaceutical pollution. When you take a medication, only a fraction of it is metabolized by your body. The rest gets excreted in your urine or feces where it

The Islamic call to prayer was made in Gloucester Cathedral last week during a multi-cultural exhibition, which also included Buddhist chanting, Rasta drumming and a pagan rock band. Tim Dieppe explains that the Islamic call to prayer is an explicit denial of Christianity, and an invitation to worship a different god. A multi-cultural exhibition was launched in Gloucester Cathedral last week with the Islamic call to prayer. This prompted some criticism, and the Cathedral subsequently deleted their Facebook post on the call to prayer. The Islamic call to prayer clearly states that “there is no god but Allah” and

A Christian evangelist has been cleared of threatening and abusive behaviour, at a trial in Kilmarnock, Scotland. Gordon Larmour was charged with behaving in a “threatening or abusive manner aggravated by prejudice relating to sexual orientation” and “assault”, after he shared the Christian position on homosexual practice with some young men in the street. The trial happened on 9 January at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court. Supported by the Christian Legal Centre, Gordon was found ‘not guilty’ after the evidence against him broke down. By Jonathan Landsman (NaturalHealth365) Vaccines still remain one of the most controversial health topics of our time. Most conventionally-trained physicians believe that vaccinations are the cornerstone of modern medicine – touting its ability to save lives and insist that all vaccines are ‘save and effective.’ Yet, at the same time, there are many intelligent healthcare providers warning the public about the dangers of vaccinations. Should we vaccinate our kids on their first day of life? Vaccines warning issued to every parent or concerned Are there any risks associated with pregnant women receiving a vaccine shot? By Dr. Mercola By Dr. Mercola Slowly but surely, consumer behavior is changing in regard to food. Many have started embracing more traditional foods and are relearning ancient culinary methods such as fermenting.1 This may be one of the most positive food trends we’ve seen in many decades, as fermented foods are really important for optimal gut health. In more recent years, scientists have discovered just how crucial a role your microbiome plays in your overall health and mental wellbeing. Indeed, some have suggested your body can best be viewed as a “super organism” composed of a diverse array of

Human pregnancies, on average, last 38-40 weeks—approximately nine months. This makes potential genetic change in the human race relatively slow. Not so with Drosophila melanogaster: the fruit fly. If you were to make a short list of creatures that could serve as examples to prove neo-Darwinian evolution to be a legitimate theory, the common fruit fly would probably be on the list.1 Female flies can lay about 500 eggs in their lifetime, and each fly can grow from egg to adult in about a week2—translating to about 50 generations per year. After only a century of testing, scientists have been

Neo-Darwinian evolution, the popular version of evolution today, asserts that mutations provide the mechanism for the change required to evolve a single-celled organism into a human over time. Upon examination of the evidence, however, it is clear that mutations cannot provide the genetic information required for such change.1 If mutations cannot provide the mechanism for the change required by neo-Darwinian evolution, what can? A recent area of study that some evolutionists are hopeful will provide an answer to that question is epigenetics.2 Epigenetics is the term used to describe the mechanism whereby genetic traits are inherited—passed on to offspring—not from

Apologetics Press has written extensively through the years about the unsubstantiated claims scientists frequently make about dinosaurs and their alleged testimony for the General Theory of Evolution (see Lyons and Butt, 2008). Evolutionary scientists, eager to introduce the world to the latest alleged multi-million-year-old dinosaur, frequently make assertions without adequate evidence. Nevertheless, month after month, year after year, the claims are made: “this dinosaur evolved 200 million years ago,” “that dinosaur evolved into a bird,” “no large mammals lived during the time of the dinosaurs,” etc. Although many evolutionists find it difficult to see why creationists so often are skeptical
