Tattoo needles leave metal particles in lymph nodes

Even clean needles may cause problems for people with tattoos, new research suggests. It shows that particles that wear from the needle during the tattooing process could be responsible for some of the allergies usually blamed on the inks or poor sterilisation. Tattoo needles usually contain nickel (6-8%) and chromium (15-20%), both of which prompt a high rate of sensitisation in the general population, the authors report in an article in the journal Particle and Fibre Toxicology.
